I imagine the difference between actors and writers are simple. Actors want to be someone else. They want to slip into the artifice and façade of another, and in the process leave themselves behind. Writers, on the contrary, have no interest in being either others or themselves. They want to be god. A force of nature. Both cosmic and arbitrary, moving the pieces of their work with cruelty and endearment. Afterall that’s what happens when your bookish, overlooked and ignored.
