IMPAC Literary Dublin Award Winner

Hello Gentle Reader

Jim Grace, the author of “Harvest,” has won this year’s IMPAC Literary Dublin Award. With taking the one hundred thousand dollar paycheque of prize money that comes with the award, Jim Grace has mentioned that he will be retiring; and will be treating writing more as a hobby. Jim Grace was shortlisted for the Booker Prize with his novel “Harvest,” back in two-thousand and thirteen, but lost to the New Zealander Eleanor Catton and her novel “The Luminaries.” The short novel was considered utterly compelling, and showcases Grace’s enjoyment for historical fiction, and showing how one age slips into another. “Harvest,” does just that, as a quaint feudal era village and all its medieval charms. However paranoia and the brutal winds of change always make a muck of everything, and soon even the village is forced to move forward as well. A compelling allegory of the present, Grace’s last novel before his retirement, speaks of our own shifting time; as the modern age begins to move towards a data saturated and infused Information Age.

Congratulations to Jim Grace!
